Navigating Ez Notice

Ez Notice's primary navigation is located at the top of the page in the main menu area. The main menu has tabs and a row below the tabs of pages for that tab. The current tab and page you are on in the site is highlighted by using a lighter color on the active tab and underlining the page. In the example below, you would be on the Introduction page of the Home tab.

Tabs will appear on the main menu bar based on your privileges on Ez Notice. Only tabs and pages that you have access to will be displayed on the menu bar. To illustrate, if you log into your account on the site, you'll see a My Account tab and a series of pages related to your account. Once you log out of the site, those tabs will not be displayed until you log back into the site.

The site also supports link navigation in many locations. These links will be displayed in in a dark blue and should be clearly different that the other text around them.

The site also uses page navigators to help you move between pages listing notices. In the example below, you would currently be on page 1 of 100 available pages

You also notice that the 'Previous' button is a light grey while the 'Next' button is a dark blue. This is a visual indicator that you may press the 'Next' button and you will navigate to the next page while you cannot backup to a previous page as this button is disabled.

Browsing Notices

Ez Notices supports multiple ways to browse through the notices posted on the site. Under the Notices tab you will find several options. The first is to browse all of the notices on the site. Currently, Ez Notice lists only the first 1000 notices (pages 1 - 100) even if there are more than 1000 active notices on the site. By default, notices are listed in descending order with the most recent notices posted to the site being listed first. Note that notices are often posted to the site in large groups by the notice publisher therefore many notices could have the same date. In this case, Ez Notices lists them by the state for which they were posted.

The second option is to browse notices by State. Clicking the By State page will display a list of states for which notices exist. Clicking on the name of the state will give you a list of notices that exist for that state. An example of the State Selection page is below:

Similar to the All page, notices will be listed in descending order with the newest notices posted first. An example of a state notice listing for Montana is included below:

The third option to browse notices is by category. From the Notices tab, select the By Category page. A list of categories will be displayed. Clicking on one of the categories will search for all postings that match that category description. As with the All page and the By State page, notices will be listed in descending order with the most recent notice listed first.

Searching for Notices

In addition to browsing, Ez Notices provides powerful searching. Ez Notices provides both Basic and Advanced Searching capabilities. This section will provide a brief overview of Basic search and the Search Help page will provide details on Advanced Search.

The Basic search box is located on the top right of every page on Ez Notice. You can search for any text or value located in the notice, the category, the date it was posted, the city, county and the state.

Search results will be listed in a similar fashion to the listing presented when browsing notices except that results will be sorted in order of relevance to the search terms entered. Occurrences of the search term will be highlighted in the search results.

Note that some matches to the search terms are only visible once the notice summary has been expanded to display the entire notice by clicking on the more link at the bottom of the notice. Once the notice has been expanded the search term should be highlighted.

And then expanded...

By default, entering multiple terms (separated by spaces) in the basic search box will be interpreted as meaning that all terms must be present in the notice to be displayed in the search results.

Many of the Advanced Search features can be utilized in the basic search box using special symbols and syntax. If you would like to learn more about these powerful features, make sure to check out the Search Help page for more details.
